Clemson University included a dropdown menu with 15 gender options on a student application, sparking obvious controversy. After the backlash though, Clemson University clarified menu was part of an external vendor’s health services portal and was optional. After the backlash, that menu has been removed and has since been removed. The university is now consulting medical professionals to determine necessary information for medical care purposes.
But they didn’t completely remove pronouns on the application.. Not only does the application still include “They/Them”, it also has an option where you can just make up your own pronoun… Why are pronouns even in an application like this?
Just took a look at the application form for @ClemsonUniv and you can now choose more than two genders and preferred pronouns. What a sad day for the university and an embarrassment for everyone involved including @ClemsonPrez pic.twitter.com/tX4b9HcLay
