The Los Angeles Police Department’s incident commander has declared a “tactical alert” for the City of Los Angeles following the “No Kings” protest earlier Saturday.
Police said tear gas was deployed by federal authorities after agitators were warned “multiple times” not to throw items or attempt to pull down the gate to the Department of Homeland Security facility.
“Federal Authorities have deployed more tear gas due to demonstrators throwing large concrete blocks, bottles and other objects over the fence,” LAPD wrote in a statement on X.
A dispersal order was issued at about 5:30 p.m. local time, with authorities giving everyone in the area 15 minutes to leave before arrests are made.
