Mitt Romney releases 2011 taxes – paid $1.9 million, donated $4 million – net income after taxes and charity 56%

mitt-romney-paul-ryan-2012-logoLet the leftist/media feeding frenzy begin. Mitt Romney released his 2011 tax returns as the crazy left demanded. He paid $1.9 million in taxes, or about 14% in capital gains taxes. In other words, Romney paid MORE taxes that he was legally required to do. Romney and his wife Ann also donated $4 million or about 30% of his income to charity in 2011. Combined with donations and taxes, Romney’s effective net income comes out to be 56% after taxes and donations. That that evil rich guy Romney! Don’t you know there are Muslims starving out there? Of course, the story about Romney’s 14% investment tax income will dominate the news cycle for the next week after a week of the ‘secret’ Romney tape.

Mitt Romney’s campaign, in its latest attempt to respond to calls to release more years of tax returns, announced Friday that the Republican candidate averaged a 20 percent effective tax rate for the previous 20 years and never paid less than 13.66 percent.
