Chris Dodd’s MPAA wants to spy on moviegoers with night-vision goggles, low-light binoculars and security cameras

chris-dodd2Move over NSA, we now have the corrupt Motion Pictures Association of America, or MPAA for short to spy on Americans. In order to try and combat people who might sneak in with their camcorders and pirate the movie, the MPAA wants theater operators to use night-vision goggles, low-light binoculars and security cameras to make sure everyone isn’t a pirate. Welcome to Øbama’s AmeriKa. Who is the Chairman and CEO of the MPAA? None other than Countrywide Crook Chris Dodd, the former Connecticut progressive liberal Democrat Senator. Do people even use camcorders anymore? All I ever see when people are recording their own kinds of video are cellphohes.

The latest version of the Motion Picture Association of America’s “Best Practices to Prevent Film Theft” (.pdf) also suggests old-school surveillance, like “random bag and jacket checks for prohibited items” and to “observe patrons” when entering the theater.

“Look for the unusual, such as someone wearing a long or unseasonably heavy coat in warm weather, odd shapes outlined in pockets or patrons carrying shopping bags. If any of these are observed, please take a closer look,” the 12-page memo advises.
