He’s also accused of child abuse against the helpless five week old baby. Bennett claimed his daughter had trouble breathing. The murderer was giving the baby a bath when she started to choke. So Duryea Bennett claimed in order to help the baby breath he was ‘hitting her chest hard and spanked her butt.” However, doctors noticed extensive bruising all over the baby’s body, bite marks on the torso and a skull fracture. When the infant arrived at the hospital, doctors noticed extensive bruising all over the baby’s body, bite marks on the torso and a skull fracture.
Bennett tells the judge all he was trying to do was save her life.
“As far as child abuse, that’s super crazy to me because when my child wouldn’t come back I fell out of my dining room table with her in my arms,” said Bennett.
The suspect adding, he too is a victim.
“I’m a victim of trying to bring my child back to life and not knowing the procedure of how to do it,” said Bennett.
