Most people think, even on the right that Nancy Pelosi and Cryin’ Chuck Schumer played Trump like a banjo getting him to re-open the bloated government without one penny for the border wall. I happen to be one of those people, and I voted for Trump in 2016. I am not pleased at all by what happened today. But Trump himself is trying to claim that he made no concessions to Democrats on re-opening the government:
I wish people would read or listen to my words on the Border Wall. This was in no way a concession. It was taking care of millions of people who were getting badly hurt by the Shutdown with the understanding that in 21 days, if no deal is done, it’s off to the races!

Trump will never get his border wall through congress now. If Pelosi and Schumer could hold out this time, what makes you think that after three weeks anything is going to change? Trump only has the national emergency route to go now to fund the border wall and the second he announces it, it will be tied up in the courts for years to come.
Of course, if the lousy Republicans who controlled the House and Senate for two years actually focused on border security instead of tax cuts for corporations, maybe we never would have gotten to this point. Of course, Paul Ryan is a piece of shit.
