The 14th vote for Speaker of the House is coming up in about an hour from now, and most people are saying that McCarthy will finally be elected Speaker of the House as two holdouts (Eli Crane of Arizona and Matt Rosendale of Montana) are expected to vote “present”. This would lower the required votes to clinch the Speaker to 216, down from 218. This would also allow the remaining six holdouts to say they never voted for McCarthy if he proves he is nothing more than Paul Ryan or John Boehner 2.0.
