Ilhan Omar is sharing the stage Monday night in Minneapolis with Hasan Piker. Two people whose public records are defined by hostility to Jews are headlining an event eight days before the midterms, and her own party is already telling her it’s a problem. It’s not enough for her fellow Democrats in Congress to say that. They should be calling for her resignation.
The sold-out event is hosted by state Sen. Omar Fateh. Ilhan Omar’s campaign is defending the appearance by saying early voting among younger voters is down and that Democrats are a “big tent” party. Rep. Angie Craig called Piker’s rhetoric “polarizing and dangerous.” Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s campaign called his past statements “reckless and unacceptable.” The Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota said elevating him is a betrayal of Jewish Minnesotans.
Piker has said “America deserved 9/11,” declared he would “vote for Hamas over Israel every single time,” and called Orthodox Jews “inbred.” Omar has her own long record of statements that treat Jewish political influence as a conspiracy. Together they offer the same platform: socialism and antagonism toward Jews and Israel. That’s what the left elevates when moderate voters and Jewish support become optional.
The left used to claim it had room for disagreement. Now its elected officials platform streamers who praise terrorism and traffic in old antisemitic tropes, then call it youth outreach. This is the direction the Democrat Party is choosing.
Omar and Piker are currently the two worst humans the left in America has to offer politically. Monday night they’re appearing together to a full audience. That tells you everything you need to know about their supporters and the state of the left.
