A Senate seat in deep blue Washington is likely a pipe dream, but it’s fun to hope at least. If you remember the 2010 elections, Patty Murray barely survived a challenge from Dino Rossi. Now it’s looking a lot like 2010 in Washington again. Patty Murray’s lead over Republican challenger Tiffany Smiley is done to just one point! All recent polls have this race in single digits, but this Trafalgar poll is the closest one yet with just over a week to go.
Trafalgar also heavily oversampled Democrats on this poll, at a rate of 44% Dem to 33% Republican. I don’t think election day will see a turnout in Washington of D+11, but I could be wrong. If this seat is in play as recent polls have suggested then Democrats are in even bigger trouble than I once believed.
